FRIDAY OCTOBER 17, 2008
Quick update.

I just got back from working at the library, and while I was there today I became part of a committee here at La Roche of teachers and librarians that pick books for the incoming freshman summer reading program haha. It was random. I had like ten minutes left of my shift and the one english teacher was there talking to some of the librarians, and then Dar turned to me and was like "Loraahhh! YOU like to read." And that's what started it. So now (after I finish "The Perks of Being a Wallflower") I will be reading a book called "The Healing" by Gayl Jones to see if it's interesting and worth considering for the freshman. I think they just really wanted a student in the committee because I'm younger and would know better if a book would be interesting to my age group. And I'm one of the only people they know that loves to read for fun and enjoyment. So yeah!

Midterms were this week and I got a 100% on my Art History exam.. and I didn't get my 3D Design exam back yet, but I know I didn't do perfect on that one because our teacher gave us a test on stuff she never taught us O.o .. She even said that she "threw some on there to see if we would know them or not" which I don't think is fair to us as students working for our grades. If she wanted to see if we knew some things, ask us but not in a situation where it counts like midterms. Oh well. So it's been almost two months of school and I've only had one grade given to me.. my art history midterm. I'm starting to wonder how my teachers are grading us.

Also Erica is going to be having Kylissa in the next few days! So I'll be a first-time aunt very soon! I am very excited about that :] VERY.

Well I'm going to go run some errands. I have to buy some food since all I have left in my dorm room is water.. and I have to get some ink for my printer, etc. So that's it for now!

CHEERS!!

TUESDAY OCTOBER 7, 2008
I am not happy right now.
I am not looking forward to being home this weekend (anymore).
And I have no idea what to do about it right now.

Such is life.

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 27, 2008
So it's Saturday finally and I'm working on my projects. I love the weekends, so relaxing. I decided to not go to ballet this morning because I haven't been feeling well and I'd rather sleep in. So I woke up and read some more of The Host by Stephenie Meyer. I had tons of time working in the library yesterday so I read for about four and a half hours and got through most of it :] So it's pretty good and I'm really into it right now. I'll have it finished by tonight.

I also had to go to the dollar store and buy products to create an ad for (using color and the absence of it as the focus). So I bought some lip gloss, band aids, Go Green cleaner, and some crocs. I haven't decided which I'm using, but I'm between the lip gloss and the cleaner. For the lip gloss I was going to do the cliche print ad with the lips in color and everything else black and white. A very easy thing to do. The idea I have for the green cleaner would be more creative, but harder. I want to have someone wiping a counter and where the cleaner touched it have grass, or flowers, or green swirls, or a combination growing. The grass, or whatever I use, would be in color, and the rest black and white. It would be hard to make look realistic, but I want to push myself to do something challenging. I'll see what my teacher says.

I'm also finishing my Helvetica poster and working on some little name branding things for Typography I. So far I think I'm doing pretty good. As soon as I finish my work it goes right up on my myspace. It will also go onto my portfolio, but I haven't updated it yet because I'm planning on re-organizing it and making a new, better layout. That might take a while though.. so I'll put some of my work up now.

I'll go do that quick and then read for a while.
P.S. I love Celebrate the Day by Relient K

The first time that you opened your eyes,
did you realize that you would be my savior?
and the first breath that left you lips,
did you know that it would change this world forever?

CHEERS!

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 12, 2008
I just wanted to say that I really love Pas de Deux. It's actually really fun (mostly because I'm not completely serious in class and we just laugh all the time), but it's all about partnering skills and trusting other people. So today we like "dived" (okay not dived, but like plied into) the other partner and they grabbed us and picked us up upside down as we cabrioled back into the air :] It took a couple minutes to trust the other person, but then it was really fun being flipped. Haha, Melanie was my partner and she was so afraid to have me pick her up, but yeah. It was fun!

On the other hand, I hate 3D Design because I'm frustrated with trying to think three-dimensionally, and I'm no origami expert so I hate making crap out of paper. We have to make a sculpture out of paper (or aluminum cans, but screw that, too much work) using variations of prisms. O.o Not happy about it and I have two days to make it work. But yeah. I'm just putting that off right now, so I might as well start on it...

CHEERS.

MONDAY SEPTEMBER 8, 2008
I had my first project due today.. it was a wall-type structure with different treatments to it made out of paper for 3D Design. I've never been so frustrated with paper in my life haha. It took me somewhere around three days of cutting and gluing to make it. I think it turned out decent, but now we have to make ANOTHER one, this time out of prisms. O.o I'm going to want to burn these by the time I'm done. Stupid paper.

Everything else has been going pretty well. Dance has been okay. I'm trying to get back in the routine of it after four months of no ballet. And my other classes are good as well. I don't really have a favorite class yet. The predominant feeling right now is that I'm being overworked. I'm running around from 8am until 9pm basically EVERYDAY, not including time to do my projects. So when you add my homework to that.. there's basically nothing left. Weekends are a gift from God to me haha. I only have a Saturday morning class (ballet) and then that's it.

Other than that, there's not much else to say. I'm just trying my best to make it through everything I have to do and still get A's. It's going to be tough though.

Well I have class in a half hour, so I have to get going.
CHEERS.
